We are Stem Distribution Ltd (T/A BritishInformation.com) - an established internet publisher. The company is well known within UK digital business circles and our network of developed sites drive a high level of traffic. Visitors to the network are easily targetable by sector making it a responsive medium for advertisers.
We have always understood the power of "search" and the importance of highly targeted web traffic which is why we own so many generic domain names. We had the vision to foresee the strength of these names as "internet marketing tools" very early on and have been steadily adding to our portfolio since 1999. We currently own over 1200 generics which are grouped neatly across specific verticals.
Alongside being an internet publisher; we are also search engine optimisers and specialists in internet marketing. We have gained this knowledge over the past decade and have built bespoke proprietary tools to undertake the work. Our expertise in this field has cemented our view of just how valuable generic domain names are as we have proved that generics assist with natural search and internet marketing in a multitude of ways.
Over the past 4 years we have spent our time building our flagship brand "Britishinformation.com" from a standing start to become one of the highest traffic independent news and information sites in the UK (as audited by ABCe). We believe the site now has all the raw attributes to go on to compete directly with the UK newspaper sites. With a last audit figure of 1.4 million unique users, it is already as big as the online version of The Evening Standard and bigger than The Express and 90% of local newspaper groups. Britishinformation.com generated an annual income of over GBP 1 million in 2008/9. As we have never done any form of offline advertising and have only been focusing on the site since 2005, this shows what can be achieved with a very strong generic domain name and an internet marketing skill set.
We would love to build all our generic domain names into fully functioning sites ourselves but have come to the realisation that we will never have the time or resources to maximise the potential that is available in our vast portfolio. We have therefore decided that it is time to sell a select 20% of our most premium names.
We believe that all the names in the advertised portfolios have similar potential for development as britishinformation.com and thus should be appealing to both speculators and developers alike. Selling them now will release funds to enable us to work more quickly and efficiently on our core projects and the other 1000 + generic domain names that we own and this is the purpose of the auction.
