According to research from Personnel Today in 2009 online recruitment is up and employment agencies are down.
Two-thirds of those surveyed say they use their own company's job site to help recruit for most jobs, while half this proportion use external job boards. In contrast, only one in five respondents uses recruitment agencies for most vacancies.
In addition according to figures released by the IAB at the end of last year - over £1 million is spent on online recruitment ads every day.
The recession has however had a major negative impact on the recruitment industry as a whole making it even more important for those in this sector to generate online awareness.
